24TH June – Karan

dummy_motor.jpg

Hi Daji, Namaste,
It start well today, it’s my 2nd session of flying with dummy paramotor. I take four launch and all are well with good landing and today I also fill that while in flying in turning with a break, if I shift my body to that side in which I have to turn its more easyly and fast turning – wow! (that’s what I read in the book (PARAMOTORING FROM GROUNDS UP,BY NOEL WHITTAL) about weight shift).

Paragliding - our flying team India-1.jpgMy instructor (Mangesh Dighe) warn me firstly, “Karan, today is not normal flying its no wind here so u have to run little more before takeoff, be ready for it”. I am ready to take challenge and want to learn fly in any wind condition. Mangesh always guide me with radio in my flying.
Daji, today I learn that in Nil or low wind condition the glider sink very fast and speedly come down so I have to good judgment of height and speed for landing, we have to flairout in correct hight & in correct time with the help of both break for safe landing.
New thing is that today, I fly in nil or in little bit wind before it I always flying in wind or in little bit in strong wind.
Today I fill the diffrence and what happen in nil wind flying condition or in strong wind flying condition.

My 4th launch was good and i make my flying plan with my self and and fly freely and try to land in spot but not in correct place but it’s better than other landing; everything is going well. I need more flying practice for spot landing. Daji its my some photos with dummy Paramotor.

24th June – Comment from the Chief instructor

Posted by admin. No Comments

Paragliding - our flying team India.jpgToday Karan did his second days dummy paramotor flights. He was given various tasks and he did well. Altogether he did 4 flights today. He is fairing well. We are planning one more session in the evening today. We’ll give him the paramotor on his back. He will do the power run on the ground. He will run with the paramotor with the engine running on his back to feel the power and the torque effect. He will feel the push of the paramotor too. He has to get used to the power unit before he attempts his first power solo flight. We’ll update you further.

23rd June – Karan

Hi Daji Namaste,

Its all well hear & Mountain Hawk starts flying again. I am sure the fund came hear. Daji from today i start flying with dummy paramotor but Daji It give me real fillings of paramotor with big cage around wow! 20kg to 22kg.

Its seeing different with this I fill different, means now I have to get ready for some extra challenge of flying its with paramotor. Now I have to flying with it. No problem its my friend now we are three. Wings, Paramotor & Me. We are flying together In ground I carry them and in air they will carry me & they fly me with them I controll and show the path to them LOL its good friendship of Man and Machine.

Daji today I take four launch with dummy paramotor. All are good and well landing But some thing wrong in 2nd & in 3rd launch. In 2nd launch the rope is hang up with a grass and some line will stuck with dummy paramotor cage because of that the whole glider gone to left and not gain hight more then 60 ft and I have to land very fast, I land well with confidence. Same thing in 3rd landing chief Instuctor say to change the launching point and we change the place but here we get more cross wind but we launch from there as a result my whole glider flew in right and I try to controll it with left break but without gainnig hight the rope will stuck with small post & I have to land from 50ft in cross wind and I land without falling.
Today all landing is well and controlled. One of co-instructor (Joy) saying me you have good judgment of flaireout so you land well. This is all by well experience and knowledge which i get from my previous flying.
I am happy to know that we have a chance to met in Hydrabad wow! great news. I am realy waiting for that day when I met Daji. Daji i request to find me a cheap, good and well conditioned used harness and wings through which i get continious with my flying. Please guide me and tell me how much it cost and from were I get it?

Daji tomorrow I will send the photos of today flying.

Just got off the phone with Eric the Chief Flying Instructor with Wings & Flights. The funds have arrived and Karan is flying off the winch with a dummy paramotor on his back which is how they progress from PG to PPG in India. Sounds logical.

They are having problems in Pune at the moment, they have had an outbreak of a viral fever and several staff are either in hospital or at home with a rather debilitating bug. This hasn’t stopped them, only slowed them down a little.

I have no doubt that Karan will write up his activities and we will hear his perspective on his day soon.

22nd June

I heard from Karan yesterday, we caught up on a few things and talked a little of the future.
He is finishing his tour at Varanasi and moving to another base in India, fortuitously one that I fly to quite often so we can meet up. That will be handy as I can drop the odd item to him.

i have heard nothing from Krish or Karan today so I am assuming that funds didn’t make it to Wings & Flights. Banks! who would have them?

It is 23:00 in India so they are probably all sleeping soundly.

20th/21st June

I understand Karan is having a little rest across the weekend doing just a little ground handling.

Funds have been transfered out to Pune but they have taken a little time making their way through the banking system into Wings & Flight’s account. Monday is the due date and the decision was taken to wait until they arrive before proceeding to PPG. I don’t see this as a setback, you can see from Karan’s progress here that he has moved a long way in a short while – I think the rest will be valuable for the brain and the brawn.

Paragliders near Sarankot (Nepal) at a launch point.

Let’s give our man a name shall we. It was easily discernible from comments and links back to The Paramotor Club forum anyway. Here is Karan’s update for today. Daji remember, means ‘elder brother’.

Hi Daji, Namaste

Today I done my four solo flying above 1000ft, I really enjoy the flying.
Daji, today I finish my Basic Paragliding course. From today I start my extra ground handling course and I have done one and half hour ground handling. Today I start reverse launching of the wing and it’s a little more difficult than forward but I hope and am sure I will have done it with in two more practice, and I know that “practice make a man perfect”.
Today all my landings are better than yesterday. We had strong wind in this morning so I cant make good judgement on spot landing. And today I know what difficulty I may face in a strong wind.

Daji because of some error in my camera memory chip I cant able to send You some picture of todays morning flying.
